The Ludington Area School District Board of Education on Monday approved the hire of Lindsey Delpiere who has been with the district teaching second grade at Franklin Elementary School. The position was open due to a recent resignation in August. Prior to coming to LASD, Delpiere was at Reed City where she has taught first through third grades, most recently teaching second grade. LASD Superintendent Jason Kennedy read a statement to the board, which said that Delpiere comes highly recommended and ,has experience teaching in first-, second- and third-grade classrooms at Reed City Schools.
“She is a true believer that building relationships with students and creating a safe and respectful classroom is of the utmost importance,” Kennedy said. “She has had experience implementing effective strategies to support student behavior (and) our interview team felt that she conveyed a strong commitment to students and that she would be a great fit for Franklin, the second-grade team, and our district.”
The board also took action to renew the Spectrum Health Sports Medicine Services and MedNow nursing services contract for the 2018-19 school year.
The contract for the Sports Medicine Services is $15,000 for the school year and MedNow nursing services is $9,000. Kennedy recommended that the board approve the contracts stating that both provide outstanding services to the district at an outstanding price. Kennedy said the current athletic trainer at the high school, Jenn Mroz, is a great person and athletic trainer.
