Drexel 65, Towson 60

TOWSON, Md. (AP) _ Joe Linderman made eight of nine shots from the floor and scored 24 points as Drexel rallied from an eight-point deficit to beat Towson 65-60 Saturday.

The Dragons (3-0, 2-0 America East) trailed 41-33 with 15:32 remaining, but then went on a 9-0 run, with Linderman scoring four.

The 42-41 edge was Drexel’s first lead of the game and there were six ties and nine lead changes after that.

The Dragons took the lead 59-57 for good at 3:59 remaining on a Linderman jumper. Greg Gaffney made a driving layup to put the team up 61-58.

After a Linderman free throw, Towson’s Ryan Lexer made a layup to cut the margin to 62-60. But Drexel’s Bryan Coursey hit three of four free throws in the final 18 seconds to seal the victory.

The Tigers (2-3, 0-2) opened with a 10-0 run, as Marlin Wise scored eight points. Drexel tied the game at 20, but Towson regrouped and led by 33-27 at halftime.

Linderman led Drexel with 10 rebounds. DeRocckis added 17 points and five assists.

Wise led the Tigers with 16 points. Lexer added 12 and Derick Newton had 11 points.
