Volunteers sought to help capture butterflies and dragonflies
The public is invited to collect dragonfly nymphs and tag monarch butterflies at Homestead National Monument of America on Sept. 29.
Staff will gather at 9:30 a.m. at the Homestead Education Center at the monument in Beatrice to lead the team of volunteers as they collect nymphs from Cub Creek. The nymphs will be analyzed for mercury levels.
Later in the day, at 1 p.m., volunteers will tag monarch butterflies to help track migration patterns.
