Montana State University enrollment nears 17K
BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) — Montana State University continues to set enrollment records, with nearly 17,000 students this fall.
The Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports the university in Bozeman saw its enrollment increase by 199 students over last fall, to 16,902 students — a 1.2 percent increase.
School officials said Monday they’re doing a better job of encouraging freshmen students to return for their sophomore year.
MSU’s four-year graduation rate is 29.3 percent — almost 10 percentage points higher than six years ago. And its six-year graduation rate increased by 2.6 percentage points to 54.7 percent.
MSU has seen increased enrollment for 11 consecutive years while the University of Montana has seen enrollment declines for eight consecutive years.
UM recently announced its fall enrollment fell below 11,000 students for the first time since 1993.
