NEW YORK (AP) _ If a one-game playoff between Cincinnati and New York is needed to decide the NL wild card, it would be Monday night instead of afternoon.

The National League made the switch at about 11 p.m. EDT Sunday night because the Reds' game at Milwaukee started at 9:52 p.m EDT after a rain delay of 5 hours, 47 minutes.

If the Reds won, Cincinnati and New York would each be 96-66. A playoff would be held at 7:05 p.m. EDT at Cinergy Field in Cincinnati, five hours later than the originally scheduled start time.

If Cincinnati is the wild card, the Reds would open the first round of the postseason at Atlanta and Houston would open at Arizona. If the Mets are the wild card, they would open the postseason at Arizona and the Astros would open at Atlanta.

Teams from the same division cannot meet in the first round.
