Accident with art installation injured workers off King Street: GFD
GREENWICH — Two workers were injured and hospitalized following an accident installing a large art display on Sherwood Avenue Tuesday afternoon.
Police, fire and medical units responded to a mishap involving the installation of a 6,500-pound bronze sculpture.
Workers were using a gantry to position the art work when something went wrong.
“The apparatus failed,” said Assistant Fire Chief Robert Kick, and two workers were trapped under the sculpture. The other workers managed to lift the sculpture off the two men before emergency unit arrived. Firefighters and the Greenwich Emergency Medical Service stabilized the scene and assisted with transport to the hospital.
