STE. GENEVIEVE, Mo. (AP) _ The bodies of four people who had been shot to death were found Friday along a nature trail near Hawn State Park, officials said.

Ste. Genevieve County Coroner Leo Basler said the deaths appeared to be a triple murder and a suicide.

He said the bodies were those of a man, a woman and two teen-agers. The man and woman, in their 20s or 30s, were found next to each other and the teen- agers - a boy and a girl - were found at separate spots between one and two miles away.

Basler said it appeared that the woman and the two teen-agers had been shot in the head with a small caliber gun and that the man shot himself in the head with a shotgun.

A hiker discovered the first body Friday morning and a search turned up the other bodies.

Authorities were withholding the names of the victims pending notification of relatives.
