Springfield judge recuses herself from latest Cosby lawsuit
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — Officials say a federal magistrate judge in Springfield has recused herself from a lawsuit filed against comedian Bill Cosby in the western Massachusetts city.
Judge Katherine Robertson released a statement Tuesday disqualifying herself from “all proceedings related to” a lawsuit filed by Monday 66-year-old Kathy McKee.
McKee’s suit alleges the 78-year-old raped her in a Detroit hotel room in 1974 and then defamed her in the press after she publicly alleged the crime.
The lawsuit is the eighth filed against Cosby in Springfield.
Robertson didn’t provide a reason for recusing herself. But The Boston Globe reports (http://bit.ly/1MuFoEE ) she previously worked for the Springfield firm hired by Cosby to represent him in the other claims.
Attorneys for Cosby declined a request for comment.
