George Sedlmayer Sedlmayer George Sedlmayer, 84, of Pocatello passed away peacefully on Friday, March 8th following an extended illness. George was always known as a pleasant, caring, soft-spoken man. He was a devoted husband and father. George loved the outdoors, fly-fishing and working with his patients and friends at the pharmacy. George was born on November 24, 1934. He earned his Pharmacy degree from Idaho State University. In college he met and married, Helen Schatz; they were married for 54 years. In addition to working at Halliwell Drug, Grand Central and Fred Meyer as a Pharmacist, George was a preceptor to the College of Pharmacy for 20 years and was appointed as an adjunct faculty. George was appointed to an 8-year term on the Idaho Board of Pharmacy where he had the unique opportunity to sign his father’s 50th Pharmacy certificate. During his early years he was a Forest Service Smoke Jumper and served as a Medic in the Army. George loved to share his time with good food, good wine, and laughter with his family and friends. George is survived by his sister, Barbara (Nusbaum); his son, Michael (Tonja); daughter, Mary (Terry Keating); son, Patrick (Theresa) and six grandchildren: Hannah, Emma, Cooper, Kellen, Cameron and Kieran. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary Sedlmayer; sister, Rosemary (Galluzzo); and his loving wife, Helen. Viewing will be held at Downard Funeral Home March 18, 2019 from 5-7pm, 241 N. Garfield; Pocatello, ID. Funeral Services will be held at 10 o’clock on Tuesday March 19, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 455 N. Hayes Ave; Pocatello, ID. Arrangements are in the care of Downard Funeral Home.
