Stan Hywet Hall & Garden’s 52nd Ohio Mart artisan fair runs Oct. 4-7

AKRON, Ohio – The 52nd Ohio Mart artisan craft fair runs Thursday through Sunday, Oct. 4-7, at Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens, 714 N. Portage Path in Akron.

The hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day except Sunday, when the mart runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m..

Ohio Mart features food, flowers and shopping, and is held rain or shine on the grounds of the historic estate. The juried craft show will showcase more than 125 artists selling sculpture, jewelry, textiles, ceramics, wearable art, glass and more. Download the 2018 Ohio Mart guide.

This year, Stan Hywet’s floral exhibit, Inspiration in Bloom, features the work of eight local designers and florists whose designs are displayed in, and inspired by, rooms in the Manor House. (Inspiration in Bloom requires a combo ticket.)

Other traditional Ohio Mart offerings include:

hot gingerbread made with Stan Hywet’s secret recipe;Vintage Finds and Curious Goods, offering the unusual and the collectible;the annual sweepstakes and raffle offering daily drawings and a grand prize package;Children’s Corner with activities and a play garden for kids;the Stan Hywet Needlework Guild’s biennial 46th Stitchery Showcase;Molly’s Gift Shop in the Carriage House, showcasing gifts, fall mums and décor.

The annual event raises money to support and maintain the estate, which was built between 1912 and 1915 by F.A. Seiberling, co-founder of the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, and his wife, Gertrude. The Seiberling family lived on the property for 40 years.

The estate includes a 65-room Tudor Revival manor house, a Gothic Revival conservatory, the gate lodge, which is the birthplace of Alcoholics Anonymous, and about 70 acres of landscaped grounds and formal gardens.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $4 for youth 6-17 with kids 5 and under free.

Combo tickets include a self-guided tour of the Manor House and Inspiration in Bloom and are $16 for adults and $5 for youth. Tickets can be purchased online.

Parking on the Great Meadow is $5 per car, cash only. Free off-site parking with free shuttle is available on Saturday and Sunday at Todaro’s, 1820 Akron Peninsula Road.
