TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) _ Freshman Matt Diaz hit four homers, tying a school and regional record, and drove in seven runs Saturday as Florida State routed Oklahoma 23-2 to advance to the regional final.

Florida State (52-18) scored 27 runs against Delaware on Friday. The 50 runs in two games broke the NCAA regional record set by Southern California in 1990.

Diaz’s homers tied the Florida State record set by Jeff Ledbetter against Georgia State in 1982. He has 21 home runs this season, seven in the regional.

Brian Cox homered twice, drove in five runs, scored four times and set a Florida State record with his 10th consecutive hit. He is batting .750 in the tournament.

Casey Bookout of Oklahoma (42-19) set a school record with his 25th homer.

Auburn 7, Rutgers 4

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) _ Josh Etheredge homered twice and Chad Wandall hit a two-run shot as part of a four-run fourth inning as Auburn beat Rutgers in an elimination game.

Chris Bootcheck (8-2) went 8 1-3 innings, giving up three runs and eight hits for the Tigers (45-17). Starter Rich Kennedy (1-2) lasted just 3 1-3 innings, yielding six runs and nine hits for the Scarlet Knights (33-16).



Florida 15, Richmond 3

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) _ Derek Nicholson and freshman Jason Dill each hit two homers as top-seeded Florida avoided elimination.

Tommy Bond (5-1) gave the bullpen a much-needed rest by pitching a complete game, scattering seven hits and three runs for the Gators (44-16).

Dill hit a three-run homer in the first, capping a six-run outburst against Mike Smith (7-4) of Richmond (41-17-1). Nicholson led off the fifth with a homer, and he and Dill hit consecutive shots in the seventh.

Illinois 8, Baylor 7, 13 innings

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) _ D.J. Svihlik scored on a throwing error by Baylor shortstop Preston Underdown in the bottom of the 13th inning and Illinois reached the regional finals.

Reliever Travis Rehrer (3-1) pitched the final seven innings for the Illini (41-20), retiring the final 20 batters. He struck out seven and walked just one.

Baylor (41-20-1) allowed Illinois to tie the game with two outs in the ninth.



Southern Cal 8, Clemson 5

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) _ Seth Etherton struck out 15 batters as Southern California beat Clemson in an elimination game.

Etherton (12-3) struck out the side twice, and eight of Clemson’s nine batters struck out at least once.

The top-seeded Trojans (42-16) banged out 13 hits. Starter Brian Adams (6-2) of Clemson (43-26) allowed six runs and eight hits.

VCU 3, Citadel 2, 11 innings

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) _ Justin Martin’s RBI double in the 11th inning gave Virginia Commonwealth the victory and eliminated The Citadel.

Ian Caballero singled with one out off reliever Tom Martin (5-4) of the Bulldogs (37-24) and scored on Martin’s double to right.

Caballero and Brandon Inge each had three hits for VCU (46-14). Inge (5-2) pitched 5 2-3 scoreless innings and struck out seven.



Miami 13, Texas Tech 0

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) _ German Alvarez hit two two-run homers and Alex Santos shut out Texas Tech for eight innings as top-ranked Miami staved off elimination.

The Hurricanes (48-10) had 14 hits, including four homers. They have homered 14 times and scored 39 runs in three regional games.

Santos (14-1) scattered six hits, struck out 10 and walked three. Texas Tech (44-20) was shut out for the first time in 155 games.

North Carolina 8, Fla. International 2

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) _ Tyrell Godwin’s two-run double highlighted a four-run fourth inning as North Carolina reached the regional finals and eliminated Florida International.

Derrick DePriest (6-3) pitched six innings of four-hit relief to earn his second victory in as many days. He was the winner Friday night when the Tar Heels (41-22) 6-5 upset of Miami.

David Mittauer (6-3) lasted just 3 2-3 innings for the Golden Panthers (41-24), giving up 10 hits and six runs.



LSU 13, Cal St.-Fullerton 11

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) _ Cedrick Harris’ two-run double capped a four-run rally in the eighth inning that lifted LSU over Cal State-Fullerton in a matchup of unbeaten teams.

The Tigers (45-17) needs one victory Sunday to reach the College World Series, where they are the defending champions.

LSU trailed 7-0 before rallying and tying the game 7-7 in the fourth.

Aaron Rowand’s two-run homer in the top of the eighth gave Fullerton (46-16) an 11-9 lead.



Arizona St. 6, Wichita St. 4

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ Willie Bloomquist went 3-for-4 and scored the go-ahead run in the seventh inning as Arizona State eliminated top-seeded Wichita State.

Bloomquist doubled and scored on Rudy Arguelles’ single off Erich Bryan (8-3) in the seventh. He added an insurance run for the Sun Devils (36-22) in the ninth, scoring with the help of two errors after drawing a walk.

The Shockers (56-7) committed four errors and lost despite outhitting the Sun Devils 14-10.

Georgia Tech 2, Arkansas 0

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ Chuck Crowder threw a six-hitter and Georgia Tech eliminated Arkansas.

Crowder (12-4) struck out six and walked two in the complete game. Rodney Nye (3-5) of Arkansas (38-21) struck out nine in 7 2-3 innings but took the loss.

Georgia Tech (40-21) took a 1-0 lead in the second on a run-scoring double by Eric McQueen. The Yellow Jackets added another run in the eighth.



Alabama 13, Loyola Marymount 5

STANFORD, Calif. (AP) _ Drew Bounds, Matt Frick and G.W. Keller each homered and had three hits as Alabama beat Loyola Marymount in an elimination game.

Paul Phillips also homered for the second-seeded Crimson Tide (45-18).

Sixth-seeded Loyola Marymount (34-23-1) got four hits from Curt Fiore and two doubles and a single from Kevin Hook. But the Lions, who upset top-seeded Stanford 6-2 Thursday night in the first round, stranded 12 runners.



Mississippi St. 15, Rice 14

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) _ Travis Chapman hit a three-run homer during a 10-run sixth inning that helped Mississippi State eliminate top-seeded Rice.

Mississippi State (39-21) trailed 13-5 in the sixth when it sent 14 batters to the plate and scored 10 runs on eight hits.

Rice (46-17) cut the lead to 15-14 in the ninth on Jason Richards’ leadoff homer, and had runners at first and second with two outs before Jacob Baker grounded out to end the game.

Washington 13, Oral Roberts 6

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) _ Ryan Lentz drove in five runs with a double and home run as Washington held off Oral Roberts to advance to the regional finals.

Oral Roberts (45-20), which trailed 13-1 in the fifth inning, was eliminated.

Lentz hit a two-run double in the first and added a three-run homer in the second for the Huskies (41-16).
