LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) _ An American Eagle flight from Dallas ran off the end of a runway at the Little Rock airport when it landed Tuesday night, an American Airlines employee said.

At least five people were injured, according to officials at two Little Rock hospitals. Details of the injuries were not provided.

Emergency vehicles were summoned to the airport at midnight, about the same time a strong thunderstorm passed through the area.

Flight 1420 ``went off the end of the runway,'' American Airlines employee Pam Cass told people awaiting the flight about 12:30 a.m.

The flight was due to arrive from Dallas at 9:41 p.m., but was delayed for more than two hours.

A call to the airline for comment was not immediately returned.
