1 dead in West Virginia house fire
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (AP) — Authorities are reporting one fatality in a house fire in West Virginia.
Paul Jordan with the Wood County Fire Investigation Team told The Parkersburg News and Sentinel on Sunday that the person who died was 81, but declined to release a name. He said officials haven’t determined the cause of Sunday’s blaze, but they think it was accidental.
East Wood Volunteer Fire Department Chief Ron Utt said the first crews at the scene reported heavy smoke and flames. He said about 30 firefighters from various departments responded.
