Commissioners OK bid for K-9 training facility
The Allen County commissioners this morning approved a bid of about $1.55 million for construction of a new facility for training police dogs.
The facility includes an approximately 6,000-square-foot building plus an outdoor fenced area for agility training, according to Allen County Sheriff David Gladieux.
He said the new location would not only allow for training county dogs but enable the department to offer classes for canines from regional police and sheriff’s departments.
The facility will be at the southwest corner of Paulding and Adams Center roads, which also houses a firearms training range, he said. Canine training now takes place in a garage on county-owned property off Carroll Road.
