Putnam Schools launches ‘GRANDfamilies’

September 29, 2018

GRANDfamilies, a group offering support and resources for grandparents who are raising their grandchildren, will be offered by Putnam County Schools monthly beginning on Friday, Oct. 12.

WINFIELD — Putnam County Schools elementary counselors are working together to bring a new group — “GRANDfamilies” — to the Putnam County community.

“GRANDfamilies” are families where grandparents are raising grandchildren.

The goal of the program is to help bridge the generational gap and be a resource for grandparents according to a news release from Putnam County Schools. The group will meet once a month, on the second Friday of each month, for training on raising children in today’s society, networking, and resources for grandparents at school and within the community.

The first meeting of GRANDfamilies will be hosted at Teays Valley Nazarene Church from 9 until 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 12.

For more information or to RSVP, custodial grandparents should contact their child’s school counselor.
