POLICE SHOOTING-TEEN KILLED

PITTSBURGH — The parents of an unarmed black teenager fatally shot while fleeing a traffic stop have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the police officer charged in the shooting.

IN BRIEF:

— TODDLER MAULED —A 2-year-old boy was attacked and killed by several pit bulls inside a home.

— RIDE MALFUNCTION — Several people became nauseous after brakes failed on a pirate ship ride at an amusement park near Pittsburgh, and crews were unable to stop it for 10 minutes.

— FATAL SHOOTING-REC CENTER — Philadelphia police are investigating a rec center shooting that left one teenager dead and another injured.

— SAFE DRIVING-HIGHWAY PATROL — Ohio’s State Highway Patrol says its recent enforcement and awareness effort focused on the Move Over law resulted in 586 citations issued to motorists. The initiative from July 22 through July 28 included state police in Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
