Guitarist sings traditional Japanese songs for kids
Hiroya Tsukamoto, of New York City, sang a few traditional Japanese songs for more than 100 kids Thursday at a Boys & Girls Club event at Eagle View Elementary School. Tsukamoto said he travels all over the country, playing shows for people. He is originally from Japan and sings mostly in Japanese.
Somerset County Boys & Girls Club Executive Director Jamie Barron said the club tries to tie in music with science lessons, and the kids really seem to enjoy the performances.
Tsukamoto will perform another show at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Confluence Creative Arts Center, and at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Mary S. Biesecker Public Library in Somerset before heading off to his next show in Virginia.
