Shedding Some Light on Auras
Dear Bonnie: I have heard of the aura but do not know a lot about it. Could you shed some light on this subject? -- Jake
Dear Jake: The aura is the energy field that surrounds your body.
The structure of the aura consists of seven major levels, or layers of energy. The first three layers relate to the body -- issues about food, shelter, money, relationships, how much energy you have for daily activities, and so forth. The middle, or fourth, layer connects spirit and body and relates specifically to affinity-- love for yourself and others. The outer layers are related to your spiritual essence. They reflect your ability to communicate, imagine and see clairvoyantly, and bring your core essence as a spirit into your physical body.
All the layers work together. Energy moves from layer to layer and often spreads throughout the body. The aura constantly moves, spinning clockwise.
The first layer of the aura (also known as the etheric layer) is seen closest to the skin. It relates to survival issues, like food, water, shelter and work, as well as body wellness and physical needs or desires. In a healthy person, it is usually a bright, intense color. In a person who has does not have a lot of energy, the color can be more subdued or darkened.
The second, or emotional layer of the aura has to do with the emotional state and relationships with other people. This is the layer where the body expresses and stores emotions.
The third, or mental, layer focuses on the mind-body connection, and the feeding of life force energy throughout the body. This layer shows how much you are enjoying your day-to-day activities, and how much energy there is to carry them out.
The fourth layer, also called the astral layer, is of the heart. Here lie issues of love, connection, affinity and oneness.
This is both a link between the body, mind and spirit, and a connection with all other people and living creatures on Earth.
A large brightly colored fourth layer can indicate a person who values human connections.
The fifth layer of the aura, also known as the etheric template, is a place of communication and creative expression. A strong fifth layer indicates someone who is communicating well with others, often through creative talents like writing, teaching, public speaking, art or music.
The sixth, or celestial, layer represents the visual senses. It also shows how you see the world. Your intuitive abilities are usually seen here as well.
The seventh, or ketheric, layer is the outer edge, the layer that other people see when they look at you. Here, you can often hold the images of who you are and who you want to become. When the seventh layer is shining brightly, it shows a person who is unafraid of the judgments and criticisms of others.
Every aura is different. It reflects the energy and personality of its owner.
If you would like to practice seeing others’ auras, ask some friends to come over and set up small light and a chair in front of a beige wall. Ask your friend to sit in the chair with his back against the wall.
Put the light a couple of feet in front of the person facing the wall, then stand back and see what colors you can see around the person.
Don’t look straight at the person but try to see a glow or lights around his frame.
It takes practice so have fun and patience, and soon you will get used to looking for the aura that surrounds everybody.
