Comic Russell Peters comes to Bridgeport’s Webster Bank Arena

April 15, 2019

Mohegan Sun is bringing comedian Russell Peters to Bridgeport’s Webster Bank Arena Saturday, Aug. 10, at 8 p.m.

Tickets go on sale Friday, April 19, at 10 a.m., at the arena box office or at ticketmaster.com.

The Emmy, Gemini, and Peabody award-winning comic’s show at the arena is a part of a partnership between the venue and casino.

Peters is returning to live touring after taking time off to film his CTV/Netflix series “The Indian Detective.” He also can be seen in the films “The Clapper,” “Supercon” and “Adventures in Public School.”

His Deported World Tour kicked off in February 2018 and has already traveled to more than 29 cities in 20 countries. The tour continues well into 2019 and Peters will then take an extended break from live touring to focus on other ventures and spend more time at home with his daughter, according to a news release from Mohegan Sun.

Listed on the Forbes List as one of the top 10 “Highest Earning Comics in the U.S.” since 2009, Peters has spent the last 29 years building a career to become one of the biggest comics in the world, the release noted. Thanks to YouTube and his global following, Peters has sold-out arenas from Madison Square Garden to the Sydney Opera House, and also has performed for the troops in Afghanistan, Iraq and on the USS Eisenhower and the HMCS Winnipeg. His 2010 memoir, “Call Me Russell,” was a Globe and Mail No. 1 bestseller in Canada.

Peters also is an active philanthropist, according to the news release, having donated more than $1 million over the past several years to various charities, from the Brampton Civic Hospital, Gilda’s Club, the MS Society of Canada and a scholarship at his old high-school; The Russell Peters North Peel Scholarship, which sends a deserving student to college. The scholarship is now in its ninth year.
