October 1, 2018

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Police say a man who was shot and killed at a Louisiana apartment complex is the second person to be fatally shot there in recent weeks.

Baton Rouge police tell news outlets 40-year-old Justin Netter was shot several times Saturday night. He was found dead near a playground.

Police spokesman Sgt. L’Jean McKneely Jr. says no suspects or motives have been identified in the shooting. He says the shooting death of 21-year-old Jamison Murray Tate at the apartments on Aug. 23 also remains unsolved.

The Advocate reports the gated development was built and opened within the past few years and provides affordable housing. It’s located outside Baton Rouge’s Brookstown neighborhood and at least three other deadly shootings have occurred within half a mile of the complex over the past year.
