Child in church van hurt in Springfield shooting

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — Police are investigating a shooting that injured a 12-year-old passenger in a church van in Springfield.

The Republican reports (http://bit.ly/1x0cuHm ) that police responded late Friday night to reports of numerous rounds of gunfire. At least one round shattered a window of the passing van that was carrying the girl and others.

Police say the girl sustained minor injuries from flying glass. She was treated at a hospital for minor cuts and was released.

No arrests were made by Sunday morning.

Police say the van was not the intended target.
