Lohin, UMass Lowell Brush Off Colgate
HAMILTON, N.Y. -- Junior Ryan Lohin netted two goals and an assist to power the UMass Lowell hockey team to a 4-1 victory and a weekend sweep of Colgate.
Christoffer Hernberg, who made 25 saves in a 3-0 victory Friday, extended his scoreless streak to 145 minutes, one second.
Colgate’s Trevor Cosgrove scored with 7:01 left in the third period to make it a 3-1 game and deny Hernberg another shutout, but Lohin iced the game by scoring into an empty net with 40 seconds remaining.
UML (11-8-1) has now won three straight games for the first time this season.
The River Hawks led 1-0 after one period thanks to a goal by senior Ryan Dmowski (No. 5 of the season). Lohin scored in the second period to make it 2-0.
Mattias Goransson upped UML’s lead to 3-0 in the third off a pass by Lohin, who has three multi-goal games this season.
