Suspect in custody after Parma man stabbed to death

PARMA, Ohio -- A man turned himself in early Saturday in connection to a fatal stabbing Friday night, according to Parma police.

Police responded about 11:55 p.m. Friday to a home on the 6700 block of Parma’s Brownfield Drive for a call about a stabbing, Sgt. Daniel Ciryak said.

Officers found Jason L. Masters in the basement with multiple stab wounds, Ciryak said. Police and fire personnel tried to give him first aid but were unsuccessful. Masters, 39, had died.

A 38-year-old man fled the scene before officers arrived, police say. He turned himself in about 1:45 a.m. at the Parma Justice Center, where he was taken into custody.

The suspect is currently being held in the Parma Jail, and police have not yet released his name.
