Thank goodness for the big orange barrels in construction zones -- especially because the fine for speeding in these zones is doubled. With the terrible condition of the roads here in Wisconsin, it is sometimes really, really hard to tell the difference between road construction areas and just the normal roads.
Normal roads are, in many cases, in worse shape than the areas with heavy road construction. Fish Hatchery Road and Gammon in front of the West Towne Mall in Madison are especially bad.
Oh, I’m sure this will improve if all the suggested new revenue collections come into play. That is, if the state can spend this money just on roads and not on new bike bridges, bike trails and other special projects that don’t improve the traffic and road problems at all.
