SAN ANTONIO (AP) _ Loy Vaught led a balanced attack with a season-high 20 points and near-perfect shooting as the Los Angeles Clippers beat the Spurs 93-81 Wednesday night to snap their 14-game losing streak in San Antonio.
The Clippers won on the Spurs' home court for the first time since a 115-103 victory on March 3, 1989, when David Robinson was a rookie, and avoided the 1,000th loss of coach Bill Fitch's career.
Robinson has not played this season because of a lower back strain, but he could be back as early as Friday. The Spurs (2-8) continued the worst start in franchise history, including six losses in seven games at home.
Vaught did not miss a shot until the fourth quarter, hitting his first seven field goal tries and four free throws. Vaught, who came into the game shooting just 31 percent, finished 8-of-9 from the field and 4-of-5 from the line.
Stanley Roberts had 12 points and Rodney Rogers added 10 for the Clippers, who are 4-1 on the road.
Dominique Wilkins led the Spurs with 22 points and Will Perdue had 13 points and 14 rebounds in only his second game since coming off the injured list. He missed the first eight games with a fractured thumb.
Vernon Maxwell scored 11 of his 13 points in the fourth quarter, pacing a Spurs comeback that pulled San Antonio within four, 85-81, on Maxwell's layup. But the Clippers scored the last eight points of the game.
Los Angeles scored the first eight points of the second quarter, five by Terry Dehere, to open a 30-22 lead. Without having a player in double figures, Los Angeles led 48-39 at halftime.
Notes: Robinson will make the trip to Los Angeles with the Spurs and have his back examined at the Kerlan-Jobe Clinic. If he is cleared, there's a chance he will play that night against the Lakers. He began light practice with the team Nov. 12 and had his first contact work Tuesday ... With the win, Clippers coach Bill Fitch held off becoming the first NBA coach to lose 1,000 games. Fitch has 897 wins in 27 seasons, fourth on the career list ... The Spurs are 9-18 without Robinson in his eight seasons. They are 376-181 when he plays ... San Antonio still leads the series 67-20, 38-6 at home.
