Pair Facing Drug Charges After Raid In Pittston

PITTSTON — Two people are facing drug trafficking charges after police said they raided a home and found heroin. Officers raided the second floor of 49 Elizabeth St. on Wednesday after receiving “numerous complaints” about activity at the location, police said. Police seized heroin, drug packaging materials and the proceeds of drug dealing during the raid, police said. Kelly Reed, 39, and Matthew Smith, 38, were each charged with drug trafficking, conspiracy, drug possession and possessing drug paraphernalia. Magisterial District Judge Alexandra Kokura Kravitz arraigned the pair Wednesday evening and set bail at $125,000 for Smith and $50,000 for Reed. They were being held at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility with preliminary hearings set for Oct. 2. — JAMES HALPIN
