NEW DELHI, India (AP) _ A leading Indian news agency journalist known for stressing both speed and objectivity, died Thursday of a heart attack in New Delhi, his office said. He was 55.

V. Ganapathy rose from reporter to become deputy chief editor of United News of India in the 36 years he spent with the news agency.

He is survived by his wife and a daughter. His body was cremated Thursday.

Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee said Ganapathy was known for his commitment to objectivity.
