Developer Greg Poole dies at 84
James Gregory Poole, a developer and the leader of Dix Visionaries, has died.
Poole, who went by Greg, was 84 years old. He died Saturday after a brief illness, his obituary stated.
After serving in the Army Reserves, Poole worked for his father’s company Gregory Poole Equipment Co. He became president and CEO in 1964, according to his obituary.
Poole and his father founded MacGregor Development Co., which developed MacGregor Park and Lochmere in Cary.
He was inducted into the Raleigh Hall of Fame in 2013.
Poole later helped create Raleigh’s Dorothea Dix Park, which is where his visitation will be held Tuesday afternoon from 3 to 5.
