Suspected road rage in southern Ill. draws charges
MARION, Ill. (AP) — A southern Illinois man is free on bond after being accused of hospitalizing a teenager in what authorities describe as a case of road rage.
WSIL-TV (http://bit.ly/1b9caPk ) reports Williamson County prosecutors have charged 39-year-old John Proz with aggravated battery in connection with Saturday’s confrontation with 16-year-old Charles Koehling.
Proz says he was driving near a McDonald’s when a pickup truck occupied by two men sped away from the drive-through area and nearly hit his car. Proz says he was with his girlfriend and his two children.
Koehling says that’s not what happened, and says he came to a complete stop when leaving the McDonald’s.
But police say Proz followed Koehling and eventually caught up to him, then repeatedly punched him.
Proz’s next court appearance is Sept. 30.
