The Greenwich High School football team’s game against Xavier, which was scheduled to be held Thursday at West Haven High School, was rescheduled and is now taking place tonight (Wednesday night) at Cardinal Stadium at 6 p.m.

The game was switched due to inclement weather that is expected to surround the area on Thursday night. Greenwich, which gets an extra home game as a result, enters the non-conference matchup against the Falcons with a record of 8-0 and is ranked second in the GameTimeCT poll.

Coming off a 42-3 road win over Danbury, Greenwich is ranked third in the CIAC Class LL standings. Xavier enters tonight’s matchup with a record of 2-7. It marks Xavier’s final game of the season.

Following tonight’s game, the Cardinals host Staples on Thanksgiving at 10 a.m. With a win, Greenwich could clinch a berth in the CIAC Class LL Tournament. The Cardinals made it to the championship game of the Class LL Tournament last year, where they lost to Darien.
