Police: Wilkes-Barre Man Stabbed, Beat Woman

WILKES-BARRE — A city man faces aggravated assault charges after a woman turned up at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital badly beaten Saturday night, according to police. Wilkes-Barre police arrested Michael Balent, 35, for allegedly assaulting the woman, according to a post on the department’s Facebook page. According to police, the woman went to the hospital at about 9 p.m. Saturday for treatment of various injuries. She had an apparent stab wound and showed signs of having been struck multiple times. She said Balent caused her injuries, according to police. Balent faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault, police said. A court records database did not include any information about his arraignment on those charges, as of Sunday afternoon.
