Autumn on Parade

OREGON – The 48th annual Autumn on Parade ushers in fall with its signature farmers market and craft fair from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday on the Ogle County Courthouse Square downtown.

Antique tractors and classic cars will be on display Saturday at Oregon Park East, 120 N. River Road.

The Harvest Time Parade begins at 1 p.m. Sunday.

There will be Fun Zone for kids on both days, a food court, a 60-40 raffle, and so very much more.

Nashville comes to Mount Carroll

MOUNT CARROLL – The Nashville Music Fest returns to Timber Lake Playhouse, 8215 Black Oak Road, with three shows: 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.

The lineup: the peOple and My One and Only, playing Americana; John Till, Delta blues; Lillie Mae Rische, bluegrass; JaCi Leigh, traditional pop; Riley Horton, ragtime; Elliott Wilderman, singer-songwriter and children’s book author; and Andrew Jacob Holm, storyteller. Country musician Brooke Byam will emcee and perform. Face-painting will be available for $5, and photos with the performers for $10.

Adult tickets cost $20 in advance; $25 at the door; those 15 and younger get in for $10.

Spooky choo-choo

STERLING – Bring a flashlight and take a spooky stroll through grounds at the Dillon Home, 1005 E. Third St., where a skeleton crew will bring its historic locomotive to life from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

There will be photo ops with gobs of ghoulish creatures, and goodie bags for the kids, who must be accompanied by an adult if there are younger than 18.

At the Eagle’s Nest

OREGON – The Eagle’s Nest Art Gallery will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday during Autumn on Parade.

The works of more than 60 artists, including jewelry, painting, fiber art, calligraphy, ceramics, photography, prints, cards and more will be on display and up for sale at the gallery on the second floor of Conover Square Mall, 201 N. Third St.

Estate sale, open house

MOUNT CARROLL – Carroll County Historical Society’s annual fall open house runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday and Oct. 12 and 13 at its Oakville Complex, 8116 Oakville Road.

The site features the one-room 1888 Oakville school house, the log cabin of lead miner Peter Hay, the Weitzel family log cabin, a blacksmith shop, and a granary.

There also will be a special sale of estate items such linens, furniture, household items, books, jewelry and knick knacks. Proceeds benefit the society’s Owen P. Miles Museum at 107 W. Broadway.
