Vigil set for Sunday to honor soldier killed in traffic accident

BULLHEAD CITY — There will be a candlelight vigil for U.S. Army Spc. Lyric Young, 22, at 7 o’clock tonight at Mohave High School. Candles will be provided.

Young died Aug. 18 in a car crash near Gallup, N.M. He was returning to Fort Drum, N.Y., after spending a couple of weeks in the Tri-State area visiting family and friends.

Young’s loved ones are inviting friends, former classmates and other community members to join them in honoring his memory. He graduated from MHS in 2014 and entered the Army soon after.

Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Dimond and Sons Silver Bell Chapel, 2620 Silver Creek Road, in Bullhead City.

Young’s funeral service will be on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 1691 Oatman Road in Bullhead City. Burial will follow at Desert Lawn Funeral Home, 9250 S. Ranchero Lane, Mohave Valley.

There will be a reception at about 2 p.m. at the Bullhead City Chamber of Commerce, 1251 Highway 95.
