Governor of Tampa Bay Lightning resigns
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) _ David LeFevre, the governor of the Tampa Bay Lightning since the team’s inception, resigned from the organization, effective Sunday.
LeFevre joined Lightning owners Kokusai Green Co. in 1990 a few months before the group was awarded an National Hockey League franchise. He represented the team in all NHL matters.
Lighting CEO Steve Oto said in a memo to Lighting staff that Lefevre has decided to pursue opportunities outside the organization, but did not provide any details.
LeFevre is also credited with spearheading the effort to build the Ice Palace arena in Tampa.
