Bullet fired into town of Trenton home
TRENTON -- A town of Trenton homeowner awoke to a loud noise Tuesday and found that someone had shot a gun through a front window. The bullet itself was located on the floor of the home.
More bullets and additional damage were found later in the morning to other buildings and a vehicle on the property. The call was made to dispatchers at 2:06 a.m. and the residence located on County Highway W.
At 2:47 a.m. there was an additional report of shots being fired several miles north of this location on Buckhorn Road near County Highway C in which gunfire was heard.
Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt said the area was checked by deputies and nothing was found upon arrival. Since then there has been no reported damages in that area.
“It is not clear at this time if these two incidents are related, but it is certainly being looked into as part of the original investigation on County Road W,” Schmidt said.
He said no one was injured as a result of the incident.
“However, this is a significant reminder that when shooting firearms it is important to always know your target and beyond as the person who fires the shots is ultimately responsible for where those rounds go,” Schmidt said. “This could very easily have turned into tragedy had those rounds struck someone inside the home.”
