Kew Media Distribution Announces Sale of More Than 100 Hours of Content to Latin America
TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan 25, 2019--Leading global distributor Kew Media Distribution (KMD), part of KEW MEDIA GROUP INC. (“KEW MEDIA,” “KEW” or the “Company”) (TSX:KEW and KEW.WT) today announced that it has signed deals in Latin America with DirectTV, Sundance TV and Globosat as it showcases new content to buyers attending the National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE) market in Miami this week. The deal, totalling more than 100 hours of programming, includes feature documentary Divide and Conquer: The Story of Roger Ailes from KEW’s Jigsaw Productions, Harry and Meghan: A Very Modern Romance and Season 5 of the hit BBC drama series, Line of Duty.
DirectTV’s recent acquisitions from KMD include Becoming Bond, a stranger-than-fiction true story of George Lazenby’s rise to fame in one of the first James Bond movies - On Her Majesty’s Secret Service; CNN Original The Radical Story of Patty Hearst, which follows the transformation of Patty Hearst from heiress to terrorist in a saga of privilege, celebrity, politics, media, revolution and violence; and Active Measures, which chronicles the most successful espionage operation in Russian history - the American presidential election of 2016.
Sundance TV, owned by AMC Networks, has acquired 24 feature documentaries and films including Teddy Pendergrass: If You Don’t Know Me, which tells the inspiring story of the legendary singer poised to be the biggest R&B artist of all time until a tragic accident changed his life forever; and Nothing Like a Dame, which invites audiences to spend time with screen icons Eileen Atkins, Judi Dench, Joan Plowright and Maggie Smith as they talk about their lives, memories and experiences in theatre, TV and cinema.
Globosat’s acquisitions include The Beatles: Made on Merseyside, which follows the band’s journey from Merseyside teenagers to international popstars; Cosplay Universe, a documentary where pop culture die-hards capture the magic of personal transformation that allows ‘cosplayers’ to emulate their heroes; and Emmy and Peabody Award-winning non-fiction series Hip-Hop Evolution, in which critically acclaimed MC and journalist Shad Kabango sets out to uncover the foundations of hip-hop music.
