Friday, Aug. 17

n 8th annual Maura Rae Kuhl AED Foundation 5K run/walk and 1 Mile Walk glow run. 8:30 p.m. Friday. Putnam County Courthouse. Winfield. Starting in the evening to provide a cooler race and a unique event. The race begins on the hill at the Putnam County Courthouse and ends in downtown Winfield. Saturday, Aug. 18

n 12th annual Vesuvius Challenge Four-Mile run/walk. 9 a.m. Saturday. Lake Vesuvius, Ironton. Challenging course going two miles up, around the campground and then two miles down. Course levels and inclines in a staircase fashion. $25 entry. Proceeds will be used for the Boy Scout excursions and the Nazarene Youth Group mission trips. Pancake and sausage breakfast immediately after the race.

n Russell Red Devil Hill 5K Challenge. 8 a.m. Saturday. Russell High School, Russell. This is a 5K beginning and ending at Russell High School. The course follows a sidewalk route with many flat stretches and one large downhill section. It ends with participants conquering Red Devil Hill before sprinting to the finish line. All proceeds will benefit the Russell girls and boys cross country teams. $20 entry.
