Thursday morning crash leaves Florence traffic detoured around downed utility lines

FLORENCE, S.C. -- An early Thursday morning crash off David McLeod Boulevard left traffic detoured around downed utility lines.

The 8 a.m. crash happened in the 200 Block of North Beltline Drive when a car ran into a utility pole, according to a release from the Florence Police Department.

The crash caused a brief power outage, broke the pole and left traffic detoured around the downed utility lines, according to the release.

The driver in the crash was cited for careless operation.

Utility crews, as of early Thursday afternoon, were still working to replace the utility pole, according to the release.
