Carson Wentz could be back for Eagles in Week 3: Report
The Philadelphia Eagles may have their franchise quarterback back on the field this time next week.
Carson Wentz is “on track” to make his 2018 debut in Week 3 against the Indianapolis Colts, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported. Wentz hasn’t played since Dec. 10, 2017, when he tore his ACL in a game against the Los Angeles Rams.
Backup quarterback Nick Foles led the Eagles to win Super Bowl LII, and he started Week 1 of the 2018 season for Philadelphia. The Eagles will start Foles again Sunday against Tampa Bay.
Some people within the Eagles’ organization thought Wentz was able to play Week 1, Schefter said, but the team has chosen to be cautious with his recovery.
Wentz was having an MVP-like season in 2017 before his injury. He completed 60.2 percent of his passes for 3,296 yards and 33 touchdowns with only seven interceptions in 13 games last year.
