_ GANG SLAYING: A man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for his part in the gang-related slaying of a Virginia man who was mutilated with a machete.

MARYLAND/DELAWARE

_ BALTIMORE-MONUMENT LIGHTING: The iconic marble column known by Baltimore residents as the “original Washington Monument” will be lit up for the holidays in a seasonal event expected to draw as many as 10,000 people.

_ DEPORTATION: The Delaware River and Bay Authority says about a dozen people who fled a traffic stop near New Castle are expected to be deported.

_ EMPLOYEE-FATAL SHOOTING: Police in Maryland say an armed store worker has fatally shot a man suspected of shoplifting.
