Same-day Target delivery comes to Greater Cleveland this June
CLEVELAND, Ohio - Target enthusiasts will soon have another way to indulge in their favorite retailer. The company is collaborating with online marketplace Shipt to bring same-day delivery to Greater Cleveland.
Delivery through Shipt begins June 21 and covers zip codes 44001-44280 as part of its Ohio-wide expansion. It also comes to Akron and Canton on June 19 and Cincinnati, Columbus, Dayton, Mansfield, Sandusky and Toledo on June 14.
Annual memberships for Shipt are $99, but a special promotion knocks the price down to $49 if you sign up before June 21. The offer also includes a $15 Target credit.
How’s it work? Members sign in and shop the online marketplace via desktop or iOs or Android app, then choose their one-hour delivery window. Free, unlimited delivery comes with all orders that total more than $35. Orders under $35 have a $7 delivery fee. You can choose the one-hour window up until the store’s final hour open.
“Shipt Shoppers” find the goods and deliver them to your doorstep. (Similar to InstaCart, which is already in the Northeast Ohio market.) Shoppers stay in touch with users to let them know of any special circumstances, like an item out-of-stock. The company anticipates adding 300 of the independent contractor jobs as part of its introduction to the Ohio market.
All grocery and household items are available for delivery. Unfortunately, don’t expect to order a late-night bottle of wine. Alcohol is still off-limits for delivery due to logistics and necessary certifications - but Shipt assures that they’re working on it for the future. Tobacco and prescriptions are also not eligible for delivery.
“Families across the Midwest have already embraced the convenience of Shipt delivery,” said Harley Butler, Shipt’s chief marketing officer, in a statement. “This regional expansion underscores our continued mission to evolve the shopping experience through personalization, increased product offerings and varied retailer options.”
There’s no certainty that scrolling through Shipt’s shopping platform will cut back on the all-too-familiar feeling of leaving Target with way more than you planned on buying. But it will make things as easy as a couple clicks.
