County provides money to reopen library in Mississippi town
METCALFE, Miss. (AP) — A public library is reopening in a Mississippi Delta town.
The Delta Democrat-Times reports that the Washington County Board of Supervisors is providing money to reopen a library in Metcalfe.
Board of Supervisors President Carl McGee says supervisors previously cut funding for the Metcalfe library, but county leaders found money to reopen the small branch.
Washington County Library System Director Kay Clanton says the location will provide access to books and computers.
Clanton says the library is likely to reopen by the end of this January for three days a week, once a new librarian has been trained.
Metcalfe has about 1,000 residents.
