Walker brothers lead Devs to 71-69 win
BULLHEAD CITY — Terrell Walker scored 11 points, including three 3-pointers, of his game-high 29 points in the fourth quarter to lift the Dust Devils past the host Bulldogs 71-69 at Kingman High School on Tuesday night.
The Arizona Interscholastic Association 3A West Region boys basketball victory improved the River Valley High School squad’s record to 4-7 overall, 1-3 in conference and 1-3 in region, according to aiaonline.org. The loss dropped the Bulldogs’ record to 3-8, 1-5, 0-4.
Trevell Walker added 16 points and Nathan Vargas chipped in 11 for River Valley.
The Bulldogs led 17-15 after one quarter, 40-30 at halftime and trailed 50-47 after three periods.
Jacob Martel and Matt Ruggles each tallied 19 points to lead Kingman.
The Dust Devils are ranked No. 31, according to the aiaonline.org power-point rankings. The Bulldogs are ranked No. 33.
KINGMAN ACADEMY 82, RIVER VALLEY 57
The Kingman Academy Tigers walloped the visiting Dust Devils on Friday night.
Trevor Walker and Vargas led the Dust Devils with 22 points apiece.
Brenan Gladeau added eight points and Andrew Rodriguez chipped in four before fouling out.
“Three kids fouled out,” said River Valley head coach Dan Powell by text message. “When one player (suffered an injury). ... With all of the adversity (during) the tight, rough game, the kids played with heart.
“We’ll get it back together and get ready for Tuesday at Kingman.”
The Tigers are ranked No. 19, according to the aiaonline.org rankings.
