Unbeaten Big Reds defeat Highlanders

PARKERSBURG — Undefeated Parkersburg moved to 8-0 with a 79-38 girls basketball win over Huntington High on Saturday.

Bre Wilson’s 21 points topped the Parkersburg scoring and she made seven 3-point shots. The Big Reds made a total of 15 threes.

Aleea Crites and Shay Kirby provided Parkersburg support with 19 and 15 points respectively.

Huntington High slipped to a 5-4 record with Latahia Jackson and Alezha Turner both scoring 14.

PARKERSBURG 25 17 14 21 — 79: Lowers 7, Martin 5, Leggett 8, Crites 19, Kirby 15, Kupsener 2, Wilson 21, Richards 2.

HURRICANE 66, BRYAN COUNTY 39: Joe Muto scored 20 of his 22 in a first-quarter flurry and the Redskins cruised to a lopsided win at the Doyle Kelley Classic in Savannah, Georgia.

Jordan Nicely knocked down four 3-pointers and had 12 points for the unbeaten Redskins (6-0), and Austin Dearing added 11 points. Hurricane led 32-5 after one quarter.

Danie Brewer scored 10 for Bryan County (0-13) from Pembroke, Georgia.

PORTSMOUTH 63, MINFORD 47: The Trojans closed the third quarter on a 10-0 run to take control and beat the Falcons in a Saturday game. Matthew Fraulini scored 22, Danny Lattimore 21 and Miles Shipp 12. Elijah Vogelsong-Lewis led Minford with 19 points. Kelton Kelley added 14.

JOHNSON CENTRAL 81, ANDERSON CO. 61: Tournament MVP Isaiah May led Johnson Central (9-1) with 24 points in the title game of the Dan Swartz Classic in Owingsville, Kentucky.

Jacob Rice and John King both scored 16 and Cory VanHoose pitched in 13.

Zarian McKee paced Anderson County (7-5) with 15 points.
