HARRISBURG, Pa. — Whether candidates should release their tax returns has flared as a campaign issue in a number of states, but it has nothing to do with President Donald Trump. It has become a point of tension in several races for governor. By Marc Levy. SENT: 1,100 words, photos.

CHILD KILLED-NEW TRIAL — A jury will resume deliberations Thursday in the third trial of an Illinois man accused in the 1990 killing of a 9-year-old girl in eastern Iowa.

CAMPAIGN FUNDS STOLEN — A former campaign treasurer for a Des Moines legislator has been charged with stealing more than $7,000 in campaign donations.
