PIERRE, S.D. _ South Dakota lawmakers heading into the 2019 session will receive a 90 percent pay raise under a law approved last year. Legislators’ salaries are jumping from $6,000 per session to $11,378.80. Supporters say low pay limits the pool of people who can serve as lawmakers. It’s the first raise since 1998. By James Nord.
