Corrections Officer Quits, Rather Than End Prison Relationship
NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. (AP) _ A Pasco County corrections officer gave up her job rather than end her relationship with a convicted killer, sheriff’s officials say.
Lisa Gail Asbury resigned Sept. 18 after her relationship with convicted murderer Mark Amison became known.
″She had a choice and she opted to leave,″ John Brannigan, a sheriff’s department executive administrator, said Monday.
Amison, 18, was found guilty last Thursday of the Oct. 27, 1984 shooting death of 16-year-old David Jernigan.
Ms. Asbury, 20, who joined the department in May, met Amison at the New Port Richey jail where she worked, Brannigan said.
