Five candidates are vying for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination: State Sen. Laura Kelly; former state Secretary of Agriculture Joshua Svaty; former Wichita Mayor Carl Brewer; physician Arden Anderson; and high school student Jack Bergeson.

In U.S. House 2, Republican Rep. Lynn Jenkins is not seeking re-election. Seven candidates, including five former and current state legislators, are running for the GOP nomination: State Sens. TESTING INFORMATION

Testing Dates and Times:

July 23, 25, 26 (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday) - 3-4 p.m. EDT (2-3 p.m. CDT)

July 30, 30 and Aug. 1 (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday) - 3-4 p.m. EDT (2-3 p.m. CDT)

Aug. 6 (Monday) - 3-4 p.m. EDT (2-3 p.m. CDT)

LAST ELECTION TEST - NO WINNERS WILL BE CALLED.

This advisory will be updated throughout the testing period.

Reports with zero votes will be transmitted after testing on the eve of the election, Monday, Aug. 6.

Race calls: The AP will make race calls on election night, unless a race is too close to call. Race calls will be made during testing, except on the day of the final test, Monday, Aug. 6.

Races and candidates are final with the start of testing, beginning Monday, July 23.

Statewide and race-specific precinct totals in initial tests are considered preliminary. AP will advise when they are final.

Uncontested races: There are 518 uncontested primaries. Uncontested races will NOT be tabulated. The uncontested list will be sent during each test, except the last day of testing. A list of races, KS-Uncontested, will move after the last polls close election night to premium service subscribers at ftp://electionsonline.ap.org/KS/anpa and to state news and broadcast services.

Winners: AP will move a list of unofficial winners at the end of tabulation and during each test, except on the final day of testing. A list of winners, KS-Winners, will move for premium services at ftp://electionsonline.ap.org/KS/anpa and to state news and broadcast services.

End of tabulation: AP will advise when its election night tabulation of results has concluded, generally before 6 p.m. EDT (5 p.m. CDT) the day after the election.

TESTING BASICS

Test results are created electronically to test the accuracy of the election night reporting system and do not reflect an expectation of election results. They should not be broadcast, published, replicated or posted on websites.

It is vital to read daily advisories during the testing period. Advisories move to news service advisory queues. Advisories note updates to candidates, races and precinct, along with the date when the updates will appear. Changes may be made up to Election Day.

AP advises capture of each test during the testing period, particularly during the final test on the day before the election to ensure readiness to take results on Election Day.

Report frequency during testing may not reflect the actual election night schedule (see below). For example, county reports that may be scheduled only once for the night for a service will move at least once for each test.
