Local Roundup: Lane Earns Shutout for Leominster

FITCHBURG -- Colby Lane made 14 saves to earn the shutout, and teammate Sophie Schuster had a goal and two assists, to help lead the Leominster/St. Bernard’s girls’ hockey team past visiting Oakmont Regional, 4-0, on Friday at the Wallace Civic Center.

Also for Leominster, Molly Kimball finished with a goal and an assist, and Kaitlyn Bremer and Hannah Erickson added one goal each, as the Blue Devils (1-4) picked up their first win of the young season.

Oakmont (0-5-1) was led by a terrific effort from goalie Ashley Bourn, who made 35 saves.

Dazeen Figueroa scored 16 points to lead St. Bernard’s (2-2) in defeat. Teammates Jakai Alexandre and Keegan Sharp chipped in with 11 and eight points, respectively.

Oakmont 60

Gardner 32

Evan Pappas (19 points) and Jordan Hatch (16 points) led Oakmont Regional (1-4) to its first win of the year. Gardner (2-4) was led by Felix Morales, with 13 points.

North Middlesex 40

Alban Baboci scored 16 points to lead North Middlesex Regional in defeat. Tim Burson added six points and teammate Kyle Blaisdell scored five.

Grace Hedlund had a terrific day, pouring in 24 points to lead Lunenburg (4-1) to victory. Emily Dumford added 12 points in the victory.

Oakmont 61

Gardner 37

Kylie Lison continued her stellar start to the season with 19 points, and Rachel Sinclair added 12 for unbeaten Oakmont (5-0). Delaney Santos scored 10 points to pace Gardner (0-4).

Quabbin 34

Alexandra Bellemare scored nine points to lead North Middlesex (1-3) in the road loss.

The Blue Knights spread the scoring around, as Luke Dufresne, Jackson Dowd, Jacob Mauro, Nathan Handy, Patrick Favreau and Gavin Cloutier each tallied one goal in the consolation game of the Mark Bushnoe Memorial tournament, hosted by Lunenburg, at the Wallace Civic Center.

Leominster and Assabet/Maynard faced off in Friday night’s championship contest of the tournament. Results from that game were unavailable, as of press time.
