PILGER — Private graveside services for Beverly J. Von Seggern, 79, Columbus, will be at the Pilger Cemetery in Pilger.

Gass Haney Funeral Home of Columbus is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to Faith Lutheran Church in Stanton, Peace Lutheran Church in Columbus or Columbus Community Hospital Hospice.

1939-2018

Beverly June Von Seggern went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2018, at Morys Haven Nursing Home in Columbus.

Beverly was born to the late Richard and Verna (Anderson) Dohren in Pilger on April 30, 1939. She loved being raised on the farm and enjoyed growing in her Christian faith at the Methodist Church. Saturday night choir practice and Sunday morning worship were the highlights of her week as a child.

She married Richard LeRoy Von Seggren on July 28, 1957, at the Methodist Church in Pilger. Beverly and Richard made their home in Stanton and built a beautiful life together from 1957 until Richard passed away on April 23, 2010. Beverly stayed in the home they built together until December 2013.

They had two daughters: Brenda Le born in 1959 and Camilla Le born in 1964. She moved to Columbus in December 2013 to be near her family. Beverly taught country school for 19 years in Stanton County. She enjoyed teaching and loved hearing from her past students over the years. She served as president and treasurer of the Stanton County Teachers Association. She was also a past member and president of Today’s Homemakers Extension Club. She changed careers from teaching to real estate and worked 33 years as a Broker and Real Estate Class Educator, retiring in 2011.

Beverly is survived by a daughter, Cammy (Steven) Otten of Columbus and grandsons Grant (Jeri) Otten of Columbus and Matthew Otten of Tulsa, Okla.; a sister, Phyllis Mather of West Des Moines, Iowa; a sister, Pam (Richard Wiktor) Brandt of Sun City West, Ariz.; a sister, Pat (Dave) Hall of Louisburg, Kan.; a brother, Dave (Judy) Dohren of McMinnville, Ore.; and several nieces and nephews.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Verna Dohren; her spouse, Richard Von Seggern in 2010; and her daughter, Brenda Von Seggern in 1959.
